The Little List | March 11, 2021

If you’ve been around for a while, you may notice that one of my favourite things is making lists - to do lists, goal lists, reflection lists, tip lists, and the list goes on (pun intended). Something about collecting things together has always made me feel very happy and the other day I had a thought: if making lists in itself makes me happy, wouldn’t it be fun to start making lists of the little things that also make me happy? Have I lost you yet?

It felt meant to be. I am going to start rolling out this new series called The Little List every other week. On this bi-weekly list, I am going to share seven little things that have been making me happy, making me think, or making me grow. Sometimes they will be things I have read, sometimes they will be products I’m enjoying, and sometimes they will be something that is bringing me lots of inspiration. Maybe these little things will make you happy, make you think, or help you grow too.

Here goes. The first edition of The Little List -

This past Monday was International Women’s Day and it reminded me of a fun podcast episode I listened to a few weeks ago about the Girl Power movement. If you think The Spice Girls started #GRLPWR, think again (although they did massively popularize it and we all love them for it).

I have been living in this ribbed sweater from H&M and it has been the ultimate comfort wear lately. It’s equally as comfortable paired with some jeans and sneakers as it is paired with some pyjama pants. If you really want to embrace the loungey-vibes, a matching pair of ribbed pants are available too. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it is so soft!

Do you consider yourself an introvert? Are you with an introverted partner? Do you have an introverted child? This book is a game changer. It was chock full of research about the power of introversion and how to use it to change the world (or how to support those introverts in your life as they use their gifts to change the world).

I love following The Golden Girl Rum Club because their cocktails are a visual dream. One day I hope to visit their bar and taste one for myself, but for now, I was excited to find this interesting article they shared all about daiquiri’s. Pretty sure this will be my next at-home cocktail to make.

We are knee deep in the toddler years with Mabel and although I absolutely love her toddler antics 95% of the time, the other 5% has been kicking my butt. I’ve been following along with Big Little Feelings for a while and love their practical toddler parenting tips, but I’m pretty sure I am ready to invest in their highly-recommended toddler course for the sole purpose of beating the teeth-brushing battle that goes down every. single. night.

Every now and then, I like to reread The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp. It is by far one of my favourite books and always motivates me to keep pushing myself creatively, especially when I’m feeling particularly uninspired. Not a “creative” person? Please give it a chance anyways, because spoiler alert: every person is a creative person.

We have had three days of sunny warm days and basically that is a hall pass for Canadians to put away the winter boots and claim that Spring is here. Grocery store tulips, this dreamy caramel iced coffee, and this cheerful berry-toned lipstick (Island Life) have been helping me embrace this fresh new season.

What is bringing you joy this week?
