So We Sold the Little Reesor House…

Welp. I can’t believe I’m writing this, but alas, here we are. In some ways I never thought this day would come, but at the same time, this decision was firmly made a year and a half ago. I’ll reserve more details about the timeline for a future post, but for now, I’m here to announce this milestone for our family. In one sense, to document it here for our own future reflections (like every other thing I share on this blog), but in another sense, to share with the readers who have been following along with our home progress over the four years we have lived here.

Before going into much more detail, let me first just clarify that we sold our home and will be moving out at the end of September, but this is not the end of The Little Reesor House. In fact, it’s just the end of Chapter One. Like any good book, Chapter Two is still falling into place and we’ll be back to documenting that story as it unfolds. I can’t wait to share more about the next chapter, but like I said, that post is for another day.

When we bought this precious house, I truly thought it was our forever home. When we walked in the doors, it had this feeling about it that made me know it was meant to be ours. I was (very) pregnant with our first baby and I could envision us growing into the space. The bones were/are so good. We had a lot of room to grow. And there was even potential to build-on to the floor plan if we ever wanted to. I knew how I wanted to reconfigure the kitchen, update our bathroom, and finish off the basement. I saw us walking our kids down the street to school every morning and adding to the backyard as they got more confident with their swimming. I even ventured a thought or two about how the house wasn’t too big, so when the babies flew the coop one day, it wouldn’t feel monstrously empty all of a sudden. It’s always been just right for us. It’s been our refuge.

But like everything in life, visions change. Plans change. Families change. If we stayed, I know we could be perfectly happy here and probably all my ideas for the home would come to fruition with time. But as a family, we felt a pull to something different. A new vision. So it’s time for us to close this chapter and pass this precious home onto a new family who we pray will love it as much as we do. It really is something special.

Thanks for everything you gave us, little house.
