Let’s Talk Linens: A Few Favourite Picks From H&M Home

I can’t explain it, but I am deeply satisfied by beautiful linens - kitchen towels, guest towels, bedspreads, you name it! Something about a good linen can make an ordinary task feel extra special. Washing your face with a luxurious face cloth or crawling into bed between a soft set of sheets can elevate the every day experience enough to bring a deep sense of contentment and joy. In my mind, it’s almost like a little act of self care.

While I’m hunting for linens, I am most drawn to texture over anything else. I like to keep my picks fairly neutral so they can seamlessly be used in different areas of our home. For this reason, I try to ensure that the linens play a supporting role to a room design so I can easily swap them out when they get old and worn. It’s harder to find a replacement when your linens exist as the focal point. This isn’t to say that they need to be boring - there are definitely many beautiful neutral options that still pack a big punch of style.

Although truly good linens often come with a higher price tag, I make it one of my shopping missions to find beautiful pieces at a fraction of the cost. I scour Homesense for beautiful kitchen towels on every visit and have even found that H&M Home offers some beautiful affordable options. Just last week, I ended up ordering a handful of linens from their website and decided it would be a good opportunity to share some of my top picks here. I’ll first share what I actually ordered and then share the picks I still have my eye on.

Washed Linen Duvet Cover Set

This is by far a splurge piece, but I don’t think it can get much better than bedding made of pure linen. It’s breathable, easy-going, and gets softer and softer with each wash. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered this beautiful duvet set in the beige colour and I couldn’t be happier with it. The colour is the perfect neutral tone that brings a lot of softness without actually being white (not to be gross, but we just can’t seem to do white bed linens). We have always used the same IKEA duvet cover set from my bedroom pre-married life and this just feels like a more sophisticated and cozy alternative.

The set came with a duvet cover and two pillowcases with an envelope opening. I have plans to eventually spruce up our entire bedroom and would love to pair these linens with a dark patterned sheet set. I think the simplicity of this duvet cover will give me the opportunity to have a lot of option and fun when I source out some new sheets, but for now, it’s going to be nice just to bring this simple update to our room.

I ordered my set in Beige, but it also comes in some other really beautiful colours or you can purchase a more affordable cotton version.

Waffled Cotton Wash Cloths (2-Pack)

Even small linens can be beautiful! I love how affordable this set of waffled cotton washcloths are. I primarily use washcloths to remove my makeup and wash my face at the end of the day. Beyond how beautiful the waffled texture is, it’s actually also really functional since the texture gives me the ability to really scrub the makeup off my eyes. I decided to purchase this set in dark grey (to hide said makeup stains) and am so pleased with the quality.

I think these would make a really beautiful wedding or shower gift (practical and beautiful, am I right?), but they are also a simple and affordable enough to gift yourself. Everyone has a need for some washcloths, so why not find some that bring some beauty to your routine, too?

Waffled Hand Towels

And along those same lines, I also ordered two of these waffled hand towels for our guest powder room. This washroom gets used the most frequently in our home since it is the only washroom on our main floor. For that reason, I find that we go through hand towels so quickly in there. Nothing feels grosser than trying to dry your hands on a damp towel!

Once again, I love the style of the waffled texture on these simple hand towels and it’s even better that they are so affordable. I will definitely not feel bad if I have to decommission them in a year or two. I find they are very versatile and could even picture using them as a kitchen towel instead. I’m already planning to add a few more to my next H&M order just to have on hand.

Now let’s talk a few other linen picks. There are a few really beautiful pieces at a range of price points. I have created a little collection below of some of my favourite pieces, from throw blankets to curtains and kitchen towels to bedspreads. Clicking the image should take you to the link if you see something you like. I personally would love to purchase the cute set of striped kitchen towels and the quilted bedspread for when we switch out our down duvet during the summer months. Ah, to dream!

Where do you like to shop for linens? One of my favourite set of sheets was a wedding gift and they definitely came from a very expensive boutique. The quality was indisputable! But I do think there are great options out there in a variety of budgets. I like that H&M Home seems to have some good options in the low to mid-range. Share your favourite spots to shop with me below, though.
