Affordable Landscape Art for the Home

There is no denying that oversized landscape paintings are a major trend right now, but whether they are trendy or not, I am here for it. I have always had such a nostalgic appreciation for landscape art. I can still remember paintings very similar to some examples I’m about to include adorning the walls of my grandmother’s apartment or evenings spent nose deep in my art history books swooning over Thomas Cole’s romantic American landscapes. There is something about a landscape painting that can transcend you to another place and time where the cares of the world feel a little less pressing.

I have been looking for some beautiful landscape artworks for a few upcoming home projects and decided that since I have been enjoying the hunt so much, I would compile a little list here. The most wonderful thing about landscapes is that the subject matter is so broad that there will always be something you can find a connection with. Whether it’s a wanderlust for far off places or a nostalgic longing for simpler times, maybe one of these affordable (and mostly print-yourself) landscape pieces will speak to you.

  1. Is there a single person out there who doesn’t love a soothing coastal landscape? I love that this Malibu Coast print is really soft and neutral, making it ideal for any type of space.

  2. Any scene involving vast farmlands pulls deep at my heartstrings. There is something about this vintage farm print that just conjures up that deep nostalgia for simpler times.

  3. The depth of colour in this piece - ugh! I love you art print.

  4. I have had my eye on this downloadable print for the longest time. Something about those deep greens and mustard yellows just get to me and would bring the perfect splash of colour to a space without being overwhelming.

  5. This hazy, textural seascape is just so dreamy and calming.

  6. I love a good natural landscape, but city or townscapes can be just as peaceful. Especially when they involve a fresh blanket of snow and the most beautiful palette of warm neutrals.

  7. I love a landscape image in a portrait format. This beautiful downloadable print inspired by Portland has so much depth and colour - it would look stunning in both an oversized and miniature format.

  8. I love the abstract style of this stunning mountain scene and the playful colours would make it a really fun statement piece.

  9. This is maybe one of my favourite landscape artworks on this list. The simplicity of a snowy scene is always so peaceful, but I love the pop of orange (my favourite colour!) in the house. This piece could easily hang in many different spaces in my home. (So maybe this is me deciding that it’s finally time to purchase it.)

  10. This piece (titled Road Trip) is so fun and playful. The painterly brush strokes add to the energy and I can imagine the nostalgic associations with the subject matter could be pretty universal. I always love a warm playful colour palette too.

  11. A little idyllic white church on a grassy hill? This art print will always have my heart.

  12. And for all those with a big case of wanderlust who still can’t leave their country - a beautiful landscape of Santorini to transport you to beautiful faraway lands. Sigh.

Would you add any of these pieces to your home? Many of them are available as downloadable art prints, so you simply download the file and have it printed somewhere locally at whatever size you desire. This is a great budget-friendly solution to get your hands on some beautiful artwork at a fraction of the cost.
