Making Our Fall Bucket List + Free Printable For You!
With the autumn equinox now passed, I figured it would be an appropriate time to share our Fall Bucket List right here on the blog. A seasonal bucket list is not something I have actually ever intentionally tried, but I have found myself focussing so much on the day-to-day grind of life that the calendar days are basically melting away. How are we already almost through September? I wanted to try something new in the hope of hanging on to some of these days that seem to be flying by. Plus the fall is hands-down my favourite time of year, so why not try to squeeze the most out of it? We’re all about celebrating the little things around here.
At almost two and a half years old, Mabel has been so much fun lately. She is very enthusiastic about anything and everything around her. I think she is going to love participating in some of these activities and I know that regardless of how glamorous each completed item will or won’t be, we are going to love making these memories with her. I made our list based on some of my own interests, but tried to include a little bit of something for everyone in our family. If you make a list of your own, consider some of the interests of each family member. You’ll definitely have much more enthusiastic participation if everyone has a little bit of representation in the activities.
What’s on our list?
Visit a local farm (preferably with animals for Mabel to meet)
Make homemade donuts (I’ve always wanted to try this!)
Rake the leaves on our lawn together (we have so. many. leaves so let’s make it fun)
Make an apple pie for Grandpa
Have a Halloween themed family movie night (but make it 2-year-old-friendly)
Go play at five new (to us) parks in our town
Take the Chevelle out for an afternoon cruise in the countryside to see the changing leaves
Make Mabel a Halloween costume (I can’t wait to hear what she chooses)
Make homemade applesauce
Host a small Halloween party
Paint on pumpkins (real or faux, doesn’t matter)
Drink warm apple cider
Some additional ideas to spark your own list.
Go on a forest walk
Visit a haunted house or haunted village
Pay it forward and buy the person in line behind you their PSL
Make a new stew recipe
Make a pumpkin pie from scratch (including baking your own pumpkin)
Have a family campfire
Roast pumpkin seeds
Attend a fall fair or festival in your town or local area
Visit a pumpkin patch
Have a fall-themed picnic in the park
Make a pinecone bird feeder with your kids and watch for birds to visit
Make stamps out of apples or leaves and stamp your own tablecloth for Thanksgiving
Have professional family photos taken
Try making caramel apples
Donate to the local food bank
Decorate your front porch for fall
Bundle up and go stargazing
If you would like to make your own Fall Bucket List, you can download a printable version of our list template here. I included two versions - one like ours with literal buckets that you can colour in as you complete them and one in a more traditional list format. And remember, just because you write out a list doesn’t mean that you have to be tied to every single item you include. It’s ok if some items don’t get checked off or don’t end up feeling as fun as they seemed when you jotted them down. The point of these sorts of lists is to set the intention to be present and actually enjoy the season. But that doesn’t mean that they have to dictate your months ahead. Do what works best for you!
Here’s to some exciting fall days ahead!
